Joanna R. Robertson

Joanna became a Christian at the age of 16, but struggled with assurance of salvation for three years. Finally, she understood that salvation is all of grace, altogether the work of Christ, and that she had nothing to contribute, but to gratefully and joyfully receive the free gift of eternal life.

Call to the Mission Field

Early on in her Christian life she sensed a call to the mission field, but it took another 14 years before she left UK, going to Malawi, initially as a Math teacher, in 1992. She then went to Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology in Kenya to retrain as a Bible Translator.

When Joanna married Palmer in 1996 she gave up the prospect of doing Bible translation herself, but has had the joy of training many students at African Bible Colleges in Malawi and Uganda in the fundamental principles of translation. She also taught Fundamental Mathematics at both campuses.

Joanna thoroughly enjoyed homeschooling the Robertsons’ three sons from 2004 to 2012, and also enjoyed serving as the Registrar at African Bible University in Uganda from 2005 to 2019.

Joanna is excited about a new opportunity to serve Christ and his church through helping Palmer with Consummation Ministries.
